Dental Sedation & Anesthesia

Dental sedation and anesthesia give us a variety of techniques to help patients feel more comfortable during dental procedures.

Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons can help determine whether dental sedation or anesthetic options are right for you.

At Clinique de Chirurgie Maxillo-Faciale du Grand Montréal, we do everything we can to help patients feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental appointments. In addition to offering sedation  and anesthetic options, we will work at your pace, take breaks when you need them, and provide calm reassurance as needed.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

Inhaled through the mouth and nose, nitrous oxide calms patients. However, they remain awake and able to communicate. This medication also tends to make time pass more quickly, increase pain threshold, reduce gag reflex and lessen anxiety.

Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia involves applying a topical anesthetic to the skin or mucous membrane in the form of a gel or spray. It can also be injected near the appropriate sensing nerves so you do not feel pain during a procedure.

General Anesthesia

General anesthesia produces an unconscious state. This must occur in a hospital environment, under the supervision of an anesthesiologist as a patient is intubated to help him or her breathe while the muscles are immobile and surgery is performed.

Support for Anxious Patients

At Clinique de Chirurgie Maxillo-Faciale du Grand Montréal, our team has many practices in place, including dental sedation options and anesthesia, to help you relax during your appointment.
